Meet the SciMath Student Staff: Eryn Norton

So you can get to know all of us at KAMS at little better, we’re posting short 11 question Q&As with questions devised by Jeffrey Stramel, a FHSU student working for us at the Science and Mathematics Education Institute. The fifth of these interviews is with Eryn Norton, a FHSU student who worked at the Science and Mathematics Education Institute last semester and who will be the Camp Director of the 2009 FHSU Girls’ Math and Science Camp. Look for more interviews in the coming days and weeks.

1. What is your name?

Eryn Norton

2. What is your current position/title?

Student Worker/Camp Director (aka First Impression Director)

3. Out of your whole time at Fort Hays, what has been your favorite class and or Instructor?

Linear Algebra with Dr. Riazi

4. What are some of your favorite hobbies/pastime activities?

I love to scrapbook!  I also play golf, listen to LOTS of music, and read everything I can get my hands on. 

5. What is your favorite song and artist?

I  have an eclectic music collection.  I listen to everything from heavy metal to country! (no rap please!)

6. Where did you go to high school?

Hays High School — Go Indians!

7. What piece of technology do you think has the most potential to change the future?

Wireless internet networks!  Soon we won’t be without it anywhere we go!

8. What piece of advice would you give the potential KAMS students about coming to Fort Hays?

Get involved!  Don’t sit around in your room.  Socialize, network, and meet new people!

9. What is your favorite thing about Fort Hays State University and why?

The campus is large enough to fulfill educational goals and needs, but we are small enough to get personalized attention and many wonderful opportunities! 

10. Has Hays always been your permanent residence? If not, where have you lived?

I have always lived in Hays!

11. What is your favorite holiday and why?

Halloween!  I love to go to haunted houses, watch scary movies, and hand out candy!  My favorite part of the night is seeing all the different costumes.
