Climate Change Picking Up Speed?

earth fireScientists speculate that the speed of climate change will be much faster than previously estimated due to an increase in greenhouse gas emissions and a “feedback loop” caused by rising temperatures.

Christopher Field, founding director of the Carnegie Institution’s Department of Global Ecology at Stanford University states,”We are basically looking now at a future climate that’s beyond anything we’ve considered seriously in climate model simulations.”  Field suggests that increased emissions are due to the increasing use of coal in developing countries.

Scientists also argue that rising temperatures also speed climate change by creating a feedback loop.  Rising temperatures melt permafrost which, in turn, releases more carbon dioxide and methane and this release increases temperatures further.

Where did you get this image of the earth on fire from? I want to use it in a book, and I don’t want to violate any copyrights.
