FHSU Girls’ Math and Science Camp
The FHSU Girls’ Math and Science camp will encourage middle-school girls’ continued interest in science and math, and will help them explore math and science-related careers. This one-week residential camp will engage girls during the summer between their 7th and 8th grades in a variety of fun and educational math and science activities, provide role models working in math and science professions, and provide social experiences designed to build girls’ desire to succeed in math and science.
As the girls investigate they will: work in small groups doing several math and science activities used by professional Crime Scene Investigators, they will meet with practicing professionals in a variety of math and science occupations, they will enjoy fun events with other girls who share their interests, they will experience the life of a college student by living in a residence hall with a roommate and dining in the cafeteria, they will learn about opportunities available to them in math and science fields, and there will be evening activities including swimming, astronomy, and movies.
The camp takes place June 7, 2009 through June 11, 2009. The deadline to register is March 12, 2009. The cost to attend the camp is $200 dollars. Scholarships are available.
