Did You Duck?
A small asteroid passed within 44,000 miles of Earth on Monday, March 2. While that may seem quite distant, it is only 1/7 of the distance to the moon and only about twice as far away as some telecommunications satellites. This asteroid, named 2009 DD45, was slightly bigger than the asteroid that hit Siberia in 1908 destroying 500,000 acres of forest. For more information, see here.
