Celebrate 10 Years in the Dome with Sternberg Museum

Sternberg Museum 10th Anniversary Celebration

Saturday, March 14, 2009

1 to 4pm

Join Sternberg Museum for an afternoon of fun and games for the entire family. We will start the afternoon with birthday cake and punch to celebrate Sternberg Museum turning 10 years young! Join us for kid’s games and activities and get up close and personal with live snakes and other critters from the Discovery Room. There will be educational displays in the lobby and a demonstration of the on-line Kansas Mammal Atlas and new Kansas Herpetology Atlas.

Museum members may be treated to a special behind-the-scenes tour of collections and research areas rarely seen by the public. Members may also take advantage of special Anniversary Renewal rates that day only.

We will be unveiling a new exhibition, A Vision Revisited: Imagining Sternberg Museum. This exhibition looks back at the imagination that made Sternberg Museum what it is today. Artists’ renderings, scale models, floor plans, and other artifacts of the design process provide an intriguing glimpse into the evolving vision that was to become Sternberg Museum of Natural History.

This will also be one of your last chances to see T.rex cetera: Dinosaurs and Other Mesozoic Monsters. This never-before-seen exhibit features the T.rex Stan along with an extensive collection of dinosaurs cast from five continents, and spanning the entire Mesozoic era.
