Wolf Numbers Up
Wolf numbers are up in the Northern Rockies this year, but not at their typical rate of increase. Since their reintroduction in the 1990s, wolf populations had typically grown by 24% annually. This year numbers were up only approximately 8%. U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service biologist Ed Bangs suggests this means that wolf populations have filled the prime habitat in these areas.
