Ginger Helps with Chemo Nausea

gingerResults from a study on ginger were released Thursday by the American Society of Clinical Oncology.  Ginger, a folk treatment for nausea, was used in capsule form to treat nausea from chemotherapy.  The federally funded study found that people who started taking ginger capsules several days before getting a chemo infusion had fewer and less severe bouts of nausea after treatment than those given a placebo.  The study tested a drug-like form of ginger and it is not known if people could derive the same benefit from ginger tea or powered ginger used in cooking.  But, ginger may offer an inexpensive way to treat what is a major side-effect of chemotherapy.  For more information on the study, see here.
