1st Manned Flight For Solar Powered Plane

Yesterday, Solar Impulse, a HB-SIA prototype, took flight for the first time with a test pilot on board at an airport near Zürich, Switzerland.  The flight was a 250 meter (1,148 feet) flight and only about  1 meter (3.2 feet) above the runway.  Longer flights are scheduled for March.  By 2011, the goal is for long-haul flights, with circumnavigating the globe the ultimate goal.
