Zero Energy Building
The NREL’s (National Renewable Energy Laboratory) Department of Energy’s green tech incubation lab will soon be opening it’s zero-energy office building in Golden, Colorado. NREL will be the largest zero-energy office building in the nation. Although, not as large as the Chinese “Sun Dial”, the World’s Largest Solar-Powered Office Building, the NREL facility uses more than solar power. This 220,000 square-foot zero-energy facility is built largely of recycled or reclaimed materials and uses a radiant system that uses water pipes embedded in the floor to circulate either hot or cold water.
