A “Straddling Bus” that lets traffic pass underneath

With the congestion and traffic snarls in metropolitan areas, more and more cities turn to public transportation systems to help.  China is developing a “Straddling Bus” system that straddles two lanes of traffic and allows vehicles to pass underneath with a fixed route and physical connection to the city’s municipal power grid. The bus will run on solar power gathered from its rooftop supplemented with grid energy. China has already mapped 116 miles of Beijing and plan to begin the construction to install the proper infrastructure by year’s end.
